Essay Final Drafts

Students spent the last two days in the lab revising their Of Mice and Men essays, adding an introduction and reviewing comments on their drafts. The completed cover sheet (at Google Classroom) and essay (at TurnItIn.com) are due now.

Presentations (Tuesday & Wednesday)

Students presented their research to their peers, taking notes on each other's presentations. After all the presentations, students annotated their notes and wrote the summary (below). Complete slides are at Google Classroom.

More Work Time

After reviewing the correct works cited format (and discussing the importance of paying attention to details in general), students had time to work on their presentations. By now they should be finishing up slides and making note cards.

Research Continues

Partners have spent this week researching and taking Cornell notes for the presentations. By today, students should be moving on to designing their presentations and making presentation notes. Expectations and tips are available at Google Classroom and on these slides.

Research Practice

This week we have been practicing research strategies, including evaluating sources, gathering works cited information, and taming Cornell notes. The slides and our note-taking handouts are at Google Classroom. We started together by evaluating, citing, and taking notes on this article, and, Friday, moved on to a short partner project where students will be research an issue related to Of Mice and Men.
