Back from the CST

Today we had our first class post-CST. We spent the day reviewing the unit 8 notes on pages 744 and 746. Students also did the close reads on page 745.

CST Prep

Today we spent part of the period talking about the CST, which begins tomorrow, and then took some notes on style from page 744 of the textbook.

CST and Poetry

Today we started the day talking a bit about the importance of next week's CST testing, and then did the review activity below with the poetry test from Wednesday. This was collected at the end of class.

Poetry Unit Wrap Up

Today we discussed the homework and it was collected. We wrapped up the period with #s 1-16 from the unit 7 assessment on pages 734-37.

The Final Poems...For Now

Today we reviewed meter again and did the margin questions on pages 722 to 724. For homework students should complete 5, 6, 8, and 10 on page 725.

A Bit More Poetry

We began the day with a new seating chart and then turned our focus to poetic meter; the notes and some examples are below. We wrapped up the day by reading Shakespeare's "The Seven Ages of Man" on pages 722-3 of the textbook.



More Poetry

We began the day by highlighting our "We Real Cool" paragraphs, which were then collected. After that we spent the rest of the period on "I Ask My Mother to Sing" and "Grape Sherbet" in the textbook.

Poetry and Papas

Today we began with some work on the "We Real Cool" paragraph we started Friday. These should be completed and revised (not rewritten) for homework. We then read "My Papa's Waltz" and did margin question A (p. 678).
